The honest blank: why a space is left empty
Where we cannot show a source for a value, the space stays empty. It is not laziness and it is not an oversight: a blank you can trust is worth more than a number you cannot check, because one wrong figure on a sheet makes every other figure on it suspect.
So a specification carries the fields the maker published and stops. A part shows an MRP where one is printed and says the shop prices the rest. A score with neither a voice nor an assessment behind it is marked provisional rather than dressed up as settled.
A blank is also a request. Nearly every gap closes because someone on the road sent us the page or the document that holds the value, and an accepted correction is locked so a later update cannot quietly undo it.
