Ex-showroom and on-road: what sits between the two
Ex-showroom is the maker's list price before registration, the figure to compare; a reported band or a dealer's figure is a price of the same kind and says which it is. On-road is what leaves your bank: it adds the state's road tax, registration and RTO fees, the first year's insurance and FASTag. If the vehicle is financed, the hypothecation entry is added too.
Our on-road figure is worked from the state's published tax rules, the central registration fees and insurance base premiums, so it carries a confidence mark rather than a promise. Fourteen states are covered. Body building on a chassis, permits and options sit outside it.
A dealer's quote for your own state beats our estimate and replaces it on the page. That is the intended path: the estimate tells you roughly what to expect so that you can recognise a quote that is out of line.
